I did a step aerobic class tonight. I did the same class last tuesday night and it felt like it was gonna kill me! for the second portion of the class I didn't use the step at all but did the moves on the flat ground. Tonight however I am proud to say I did the whole class using my step the entire time :) It was really exciting to find that although it was still tough and I was mightily puffed out by the end of it, it was much easier tonight than last tuesday! I am looking forward to next tuesday to see how much easier it will be then :)
Tomorrow is weigh-in day. I am hoping to see a 1-2kg loss. I feel like I am noticing a bit of a difference in my body, but not sure if that is just wishful thinking or not! All in all I feel like I m doing well, my heart rate monitor helps me keep on track with my work-outs (I know I talk about the heart rate monitor often, but seriously it is awesome!), and I am keeping well within my 1200cal/day - most days I struggle to reach the allotted 1200cal.

Busy Busy
This week has been a busy one for me, my boss has been on holidays so I am in charge at work, which inevitably means more work and longer hours. Very glad tomorrow is his last day off for a little while!
I was very excited on Wednesday morning when I weighed myself for my first official 12wbt weigh in - I have lost 4.1kg so far! Feeling very proud of myself.
Today was a bit of a harder day, I have felt very tired all day and have had massive cravings for junk food, but I'm pleased to say I resisted the temptation! I am looking forward to next Wednesday and hopefully seeing the scales 1-2kg lighter than I am now. That is what I kept reminding myself of today when I wanted cake, or chocolate, or take away... just think of next Wednesday and the results I want to see on the scales....
I am finding exercising easier at the moment with having the heart rate monitor - not easy in the sense that it is easy to DO, but easier in that when I look at how many calories I have actually burnt, if it isnt at a level I want to be, it is easier to find that motivation to push myself a bit harder to get those extra calories burnt.
My biggest exercise challenge so far was a step class I did on tuesday night. OMG I thought I was gonna die! Out of breath, heart racing, face red as a tomato, sweat pouring off me - I gave it my all.... and then some! It was a great achievement to finish the class though, and I burnt over 800 calories so that was pretty awesome!

feeling proud....hungry, but proud
Yesterday was the first day I really took notice of my calorie intake in preparation for the 12WBT starting on Monday.
It wasn't the easiest day to start, I was at a friends place for both lunch and dinner, so the temptation to grab some easy food like take-away was pretty hard to resist. But instead of giving in like I ALWAYS do, I went for the healthy option! For lunch, while everyone else had sausages on rolls I had a chicken, avocado and cherry tomato wrap and some salad and for dinner while everyone had pizza and cookies I had a 6" chicken teriyaki sub from subway. I was soooo tempted to have one of the subway cookies as well, but I didnt and I was really glad that I didn't!
Today I have continued in this trend and had another chicken and avocado wrap for lunch. I am feeling a bit hungry now and have had to try really hard to stop myself grabbing something from the kitchen, but I have managed to resist the temptation so far and I keep telling myelf - if I have resisted the temptation so far, I can continue to resist it!
Later on today I will do my fitness test for the 12wbt - I need to run/walk for 1km and time myself. I live right next to an oval but there have been sports played on it all day so far, I'm hoping they will finish soon so I can use it to run around. I'm looking forward to using my heart rate monitor too!

Gearing up
I got my polar heart rate monitor today! very excited! this will help with my fitness/weight loss as it not only shows my heart rate, but it shows exactly how many calories I will be burning, and it keeps a track of all my workouts. Very pleased with this purchase!
I gave it a very quick try and it works beautifully, almost makes me wish I was going to gym tonight instead of going to the movies! I will get a chance to try it out properly tomorrow when I go for my first roller skating lesson!

12WBT - bring it on!
The last time I managed to get myself focussed and lose weight was when I was doing the Michelle Bridges 12 week body transformation challenge so I have decided to do it again, and this time I'll finish it!
I have reactivated my gym membership and made sure I can use my membership at both my local gyms since one closes at 9pm so I know I can use the other one. I am also going to buy a polar heart rate monitor so I can see how many calories I am burning during a workout so that I know if i need to push harder. I also have an app on my phone to track my calorie intake during the day.
Basically I am arming myself with as many tools as I can to ensure that I get through the 12 weeks (begining next monday) and make them a success. Ultimately I want to lose 20-25kg, if i can lose 12kg over the next 12 weeks, then I will sign up to the 12wbt again and get rid of the remaining 12 kg over that 12 weeks, which will mean that HOPEFULLY by the start of summer I will be down to my goal weight, or atleast damn close to it!
I need to keep myself focussed on the end result - yes that late night snack might seem appealing, but MY GOD it will feel good to go into summer and be able to buy gorgeous sun dresses and shorts! It was so long ago that this was a possibility it seems almost unrealistic, but i KNOW that I can do it!

Finally Blogspot is up and running again!
I have tried a few times to get in and post but Blogspot kept having errors!
Well time for some blatant honesty again - weight loss just hasnt been happening - I havent really been trying to be honest. I havent been eating bad food most of the time, but I have still been eating too much and I havent done a scrap of exercise.
I'm quite ashamed of myself, I just dont seemt o be able to do this on my own! I suppose there is no shame in needing a bit of help tho.
So I have signed up for Michelle Bridges 12 week Body Transformation Challenge. I signed up to this last year at this same time of year and for the 4 weeks I did really well, I lost 5kg and was doing really well with eating and exercise. The I was stupid and decided to use Duromine (a prescription weight loss drug that is basically a derrivative of speed) to try and help increase my weight loss. Well that was a BIG mistake! I had an allergic reaction to it that affected my breathing. For a week I struggled to breath properly and then it took another 2 weeks on top of that to get back to normal. Unfortunately instead of getting back on track and taking this as a lesson to avoid quick fixes, I was discouraged, got lazy and didnt finish off the 12 weeks. I easily fell back into old habits and bad food.
This time I am determined to complete the full 12 weeks in the same way I did the first 4 weeks last time - with enthusiasm and sticking to the plan! hopefully I will lose 10-12 kg and that will put me half way to my goal.

From Dusk Til Derby
What a FANTASTIC night I had! Headed to Sydney Olympic Park for the second bout of the Sydney League Roller Derby with 3 great friends and (as I knew I would) I had an absolute ball!
Dressing up was a must - had my hair done today so it is now a nice bright red - then I donned some fishnets, long red and black striped socks, skirt and shirt and off to derby we went!
The first bout was a mini-bout (20min halves instead of 30 min) between Team Unicorn and the Western Sydney Boutlaws. I'm not a big fan of Team Unicorn because of (a) their name, (b) their logo/mascot (c) their supporters are just MENTAL (unicorn heads on sticks anyone?) but I gotta say, as a team, they are pretty awesome! They have some killer players on there, especially Winnie Bruise - she is an AMAZING Jammer, which in a way is surprising as she is quite tall. From my observations shorter gals make better jammers as they can duck and weave amongst the pack a biteasier, but Winnie is just so goddamn fast her height doesnt matter! the other players were fantastic as well, their names escape me and my program is not within reach and I am too cold to move to grab it so I will try to remember to blog about them another time! But the whole team were amazing. The Western Sydney Outlaws tried really heard, but it is obvious the skill level just isnt quite on par with the unicorns. In saying that they did a great job too, particularly the pack, they put a few great hits on the unicorns and I look forward to seeing them again at the next bout.
The second bout was the main event - the Screaming Assault Sirens vs the D'Viants. WOW what a game!!!! Right from the outset there was no way to tell who would win, the scores remained soooooo close the entire time that, as much as this is a cliche, it really WAS anyones game! I was rooting for the S.A.S and my two favourite players were Dizzie Borden (the captain) and Trippy Longstocking. Dizzie was a kick-ass jammer! more often than not at the beigining of the jam she would be behind the D'Viant's jammer but then out of no-where she would zip through, break through the pack and become the lead jammer! once she was in the lead there was no stopping her - great to watch! Trippy was a killer blocker - there was no getting past her, atleast not without copping a massive hit in the process!
The D'Viants had a fantastic team as well, particularly their captain Haterade - speed skater extrordinaire! some of the best jams were when the two jammers were Dizzie and Haterade - both such AMAZING jammers that it made for an action packed 2mins!
By the 2nd last jam the S.A.S were ahead by 2 points but then they didnt get their team onto the track quick enough (including their jammer) which resulted in there only being 2 S.A.S blockers on the track and no S.A.S jammer! Haterade was jamming for the D'Viants so she took advantage of having the track basically to herself (especially as she had no difficulty getting past the only 2 S.A.S blockers, no matter how hard they tried) and she clocked up a 25 point scoring jam! Completely changed the game! Even though in the final Jam the S.A.S were able to pick up a few points it was all over, the D'Viants won!
Then to top it all off after the game was finished an amazing roller skate cake made by the brilliant Planet Cake was rolled out onto the track, resulting in a massive food fight between the teams - looks like they had a great time, although I dont envy the cleaner having to clean squashed cake and fondant off the polished wood floor!
Fantastic night, so much fun was had - cant wait for the next one! Bring on June 4th!

Pin-up Perfection
I seriously can't get enough of Gil Elvgren !!!!
If you dont know who he is, Elvgren was an American artist who painted "girl next-door" style pin-ups - you have probably seen alot of them without even realising it. Infact the girl in my background is a Gil Elvgren painting!
A quick google search will open you up to the world of Gil Elvgren, but to get you started here is one of my favourites!

RED!
Is the colour of my hair at the moment, or I should say, the front half of my hair. When I say red I dont mean orange red either, I am taking full on bright redish pink... and I am LOVING it! The colour in at the moment (Red Corvette by Fudge) is a wash out colour, so I am heading to the hairdressers asap to get ALL of my hair done, in a permenant bright red colour... ideally I will have it done ready for derby on Saturday night!

I can't get enough of this soundtrack!
I am LOVING the Whip It soundtrack! Great movie with a kick-ass soundtrack!
Listened to it in the car on the way to watch hubby play football(soccer) with my little girl riding along with me... as soon as "boys want to be her" by Peaches came on she said "ooh this is from Whip It!" and made me play it twice in a row!
